1. Format rules:

Could we change the format to Label-YXZ?

-> Label-Island

Yes, I was considering this as well, looks clearer. I moved the telefunken page and redid the links. Nik 08:11, 18 August 2006 (PDT)

2. restrictions?

Personally i would follow the examples and use the "Label"-thing in a brand view, e.g. LabelWEA instead of LabelWEA_Musik_GmbH, LabelWEA_International_Inc. etc. Any opinions?

Yes, we don't need to try to create a different page for every sub-label unless it's needed (i.e it has too much information for the main label page).

..."'Label-' on the front of the basic label / company name."

Are you sure that we should mix up the brand / company thing again (like in discogs)? I think TELDEC vs. TELDEC Telefunken-Decca Schallplatten GmbH is a good example. I hope you understand now what I meant in the forum.

At this moment in time, we could call the page "Blahblah" and it doesn't really matter, as long as we know what that means. Pages can be renamed very easily. We shouldn't try to really build the heirarchy here as links, or at lest that's not the main objective. If you need to make the distinction, by all means create and link pages, and alter links, as you see fit. If label / page names need to be more consicise, that's fine as well. Categories

I added Category tags to the existing labels; among other things this lets you automatically generate a summary page of all the pages in that category (see: Category:Labels). This approach would work better if label pages were just named "Labelname" or "Labelname (Label)" (when disambiguation is needed) rather than "Label-Labelname". Can do the same for Companies too. Installing the DynamicPageList extension would let you embed this summary list inside a page, so things like the lists in the Labels page coule be generated automatically instead of having to be updated manually each time a new label/company is added. Currently working on renaming all the labels and companies to this format, however it is time-consuming and has to be done manually and all the internal links have to be changed. vargind 13:57, 7 April 2007 (NZST)

OK, labels are renamed, now they are all suffixed with (Label) instead of prefixed with Label- will work on the companies tomorrow. any broken links, you're welcome to fix them. thanks. and sorry if anyone has now their bookmarks broken vargind 20:28, 7 April 2007 (NZST)

I think it's all finished and correct now, although I just realised Lazlo said we didn't need to suffix or prefix them, just category tag them... oh well, I don't relish doing that again. I think soon on the label/company page we should just have links to the category pages instead of a list of them all, maybe? saves linking them all up... vargind 22:53, 7 April 2007 (NZST)
