Dev-Outstanding-Database-Issues
From The Unofficial Discogs Wiki
PLEASE NOTE! This page is now defunct - we have a new bug and feature tracker at http://www.discogs.com/disbugs - all new issues should be put in there. Please note the guidelines for entering new bugs and feature requests at http://www.discogs.com/help/bugs-and-feature-requests.html
The wiki is still a legitimate place to put list of things to do, to work on feature requests, and for any other purpose: for example Dev-Submission-Form-Checks-To-Do Errors Dev

Outstanding Issues
[edit]
Top 5
- Master Release (IN PROGRESS)
- Submitters do NOT receive notifications of comments on their submissions. Is this a function of "email me after activity on my pending submissions"? Can we at least PM users with this notification, no preference? Can we review the methods we use to contact users?
- Provide users with the ability to make personal notes to individual items that only they can view.
- Fix the bug that affects the capitalisation of input text when combining credits with bracketed text [DJ] etc.
- Fix the bug that changes the original submission in the history when an update is accepted (is this affected by v3?)

Other Issues
23rd October 2007 - Need to check for 'In Groups' on an artist page when renamed or otherwise left with an empty profile.
- 22nd October 07 - Check the label page for BloodLust! when logged into discogs. Everything looks fine, sorted by cat#... Log out. Check it again. Now the sorting is all whack... Blocks of releases are in order, interspersed amongst other blocks of releases. - It seems that it is sorting by year THEN cat#... Possible cache issue?
- Catalog number check seems to look at "1st cat # field" against all other "1st cat # fields" in the db (and so on) instead of "cat # field info" against all other "cat # field info" in the db http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/147844
- Reinstate removed "highlight changes" on/off link from release edit views.
- "Highlighted changes" colouration appears where no changes have been made. This makes moderating more difficult than it already is and slows processing of submissions.
- BOTH releases affected by a pending release merge prevented from appearing in "Updates to items in My Collection". As merges are apparently not subject to the undo feature.
- A weekly (or at most monthly) email to all mods giving top priorities for development and updates on implemented changes. As fundamental changes that almost all aware users are against can now apparently be made in the blink of an eye despite repeatedly requested features going ignored for years, the mail should also explain why slated changes have not happened, and what is pushing them back. Countdown to major features such as Master Release and new genres should be provided.
- A monthly email to all subscribers to Discogs announcements giving the same. The News forum is useless to all except forum users - a tiny minority.
- Update Watchlist functions to create a queue that can be browsed like the Friends' list.
- allow the moderator interface to "Refresh" within the same set of submissions it is in currently, rather than returning to the oldest submission in that queue, or just the whole queue, depending on the location when Refresh is pressed.
- http://www.discogs.com/forums/topic?topic_id=143377#1857097 allow] for the replacing of an image in one edit, instead of the current 3 edits system of uploading / deleting / setting primary.
- Allow for the assignation of Primary Artist Names within the ANV system.
- list rejected submissions on release, artist, label history pages.
- Fix the bug affecting label and artist profile updates.
- Whitespace bug, affects renames, add releases and edits.
- Links? Examples?
- [1] Marketplace search function. (scheduled for this year according to Simfonik)
[edit]
Completed
- Fix the bug that removes the " from 7", 10", 12" etc during release edits. This causes duplication of work.
- Last line of format removed when there's more than one, during an update. Fixed
- Submitters attempting to submit releases using Various Artists should be presented with a warning to confirm they are submitting to Torsten Pröfrock's artist page, and also Unknown. [Fixed Nov-9-2007]

For Discussion
- fix the bug that directly links "block edit" to "block contact".
- This is not a bug, but planned functionality. If you don't want someone to contact you, then they shouldn't edit your submissions, and vice versa. It is overcomplicated to have too many lists, better to have one list. If anything, I would recommend that Blocked Users and Ignored Users become one list, so we have one site wide universal block/ignore user function Nik 07:28, 18 October 2007 (PDT)
- make the order that images are displayed editable / fix the image upload bug that reorders images on Add Release submissions.
- This would require more guidelines, and would no doubt cause arguments. Is it really necessary? Nik 07:28, 18 October 2007 (PDT)
- This is not a bug, but a functionality suggestion. Can we have a method of displaying in one click the various credit roles performed by an artiste in each release that they've appeared on (including releases by them)? This makes spotting errors and entering correct data much easier. I imagine a drop-down menu next to each release on the artiste's main page, with the menu containing the full list of credited information against each release.
